What we do with your information
We're a small group of Alaskans working to change how technology is used in our public schools. This page explains what information we collect when you sign our petition or complete our survey, what we do with it, and how to reach us if you'd like your information removed.
What we collect
When you sign the petition:
- Your first and last name
- Your email address
- Your city and ZIP code
- Optionally, the story or comment you write in the "Why are you signing?" field
When you complete the survey:
- Your role (parent, teacher, support staff, student, or community member)
- Your school district
- Grade levels relevant to you, your child(ren), or your students
- Your satisfaction with how technology is currently used in schools
- Your written response about the top problem you see
- Your level of agreement with creating a local tech use task force
- Optionally, your email if you'd like to participate in a future interview or focus group
How we use it
- Petition signatures will be compiled and delivered to the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District and any other relevant Alaska school districts at the beginning of the Fall 2026 school year.
- Survey responses are used to understand the community's experience with classroom technology and to make the case for policy change. Anonymized quotes may be used in public materials; we will not attach your name to a public quote without asking first.
- Your email address will only be used to send you occasional updates about this campaign, or to follow up about a research session if you indicated interest. We will not sell, rent, or share it with anyone outside this campaign.
Who can see your information
- The volunteer organizers of Unplug Edtech in Alaska
- Google, whose Forms and Sheets services we use to store responses (subject to Google's own privacy practices)
How long we keep it
Petition signatures are retained for the duration of the campaign and a reasonable period afterward to support any follow-up advocacy. Survey responses are retained until we've finished analyzing and publishing our findings. After that, we'll delete the personally identifying portions (names, email addresses, and any text that could identify a respondent).
Your choices
You can ask us at any time to:
- Tell you what information we have about you
- Correct any information that's wrong
- Delete your information entirely
- Unsubscribe from any further email about the campaign
